We just had the most amazing weekend.... and it isn't even over yet!!
Yes, we are fundraising. Yes, we are praying for God's provision. Yes, we do have some money in the bank, but not enough for our travel. If God sees fit, the 4 butlers will travel to China together to bring our newest family member home. Lauren and Matthew have been such a huge part of the entire process of our adoption - we really want them to be there when their sister is placed in our arms. We have had some beautiful responses to our fundraising efforts. And we are so grateful for every single donor and every single dollar.
I digress..... our weekend. It began with a trip to Jacksonville, Florida, where we had to be fingerprinted ONCE AGAIN (I mean, really - can't all these government agencies just SHARE the prints we've already had done?!) Since we were in Jax, and Flo's family is so close to Jax, we took them up on their sweet offer to spend the night and fellowship with them. Flo is such a special part of our family now, and it was so great to meet her biological family, and share in the connection we have in our daughters. It was a really sweet time.
Then, today, we were able to meet a beautiful family of 6 - mom, dad, and 4 kiddos - all adopted, all from different countries. Daughter #1, from Vietnam, 12 years old. Son #1, from Guatemala, 9 years old. Daughter#2, from CHINA, 6 years old, and Son #2 from the Philippines, and 3 years old. Talk about a rainbow family! It was a very, very precious time. It is kind of rare that we get to sit down and talk with other families who have shared in the same calling we have, who share the same faith, and really understand where we are in our walk with the Lord through this magnificent journey of adoption. Truly, it was a wonderful day.
The icing on the cake...... After we got home, I checked the mail. What did I find? A check from a very, very generous donor. Definitely NOT anything we expected AT ALL!!! God Himself is building our travel fund, through careful planning of our paychecks, Kenneth's job as a choir director, and one precious donation at a time. We're getting there, Savannah!!! Mommy and Daddy are on our way!!!!!!!!!!!!
