the story of the new house

Okay, so I finally got around to taking pics of the new house. The captions are pretty self explanatory. For anyone who cares, here is the story of how this move came about.

Because Kenneth gets real estate fever every once in a while, we sometimes go out looking at houses just for the fun of it. Several months ago, we came across this one. It was built in 1967. I like that, because it seems that houses are not built now-a-days the way they were back then. There is great workmanship in this house. It is brick, which we have always dreamed of. There's about 3000 square feet of living space. The previous owners have added on updated rooms, and they gutted the kitchen and updated it. It is in an older, very settled neighborhood. It has a lot of the things we were looking for. However, we did not feel that the timing was right. We decided to pray about it. If the house was meant to be ours, it would still be for sale when we were ready.

A few weeks ago, we were driving down Tuxedo (our new street) and noticed that the house was still for sale, but now it was for sale "by owner," which meant that the price had been lowered. (Hmmmmm.......) Upon looking at it again, we prayed again - this time that if this was the right thing to do, God would literally drop a buyer for our house in our laps. Guess what happened? The next day, our phone rang. It was the owner of the Tuxedo house. They offered to buy our house in order to make the sale of their house possible. They are purchasing our house as an investment. (These people must have some serious money.) Anyway, prayer number two - answered.

When we knew that moving was a strong possiblilty, we told Lauren about it. She has strong emotional ties to our house, and was very upset about the prospect of moving. She has told us that she prayed that if this was God's will for our lives, that he would give her a peace in her heart. As we walked through the Tuxedo house with the kids a few days later, she said to me, "Mom, I really don't want to, but I think I have a peace about this. It must be God's will." (#3 - check!)

So, as you can see, we feel confident that this move, while not completely logical (that's my worry wart side coming out) seems to be completely within the will of God for us at this time. I have no idea why. The house we live in now is more than adequate - and we just closed in the garage a year ago for Lauren's new room! All that work.......
Anyway, that must have been part of the plan as well, as it increased the value of our home dramatically.

We'll be closing on both real estate transactions on Friday, June 29. We'll be moving in on July 5. Pray that all goes well, and I will post more photos after we are officially moved in and settled. It may take a while..... That's a lot of space to settle in to!

Until next time,
Jami
